Comments from the Congregation

After visiting First Baptist Church in Plattsmouth for the first time on Easter Sunday 2001, my husband and I knew that this is the church that we needed to be part of. Pastor Wicks’ straight forward Bible preaching convinced us that we were missing out on things in our life, and that God was the answer. My husband and I came from different religious backgrounds and teachings, but the people at First Baptist made us feel welcome and part of the "family". Living a busy life and seeming to have no time to spare, we found ourselves going to Church three, maybe four times a week. We couldn’t get enough of the preaching and fellowship. We began going to the "Home Builders" Sunday school class and have learned many things that have helped our home life as well as our daily walk with the Lord. Bro. Dreesman has been a great teacher and a wonderful influence in our lives. After becoming members of the Church, we decided to join into the activities and be a part of the different ministries. There’s something for anyone who wishes to participate.

We also decided to put our oldest daughter, Mickayla 9, into First Baptist School. That has turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have ever made. Our younger kids (Brooklynn, 4 and Chase 3) are eager to begin their school days at First Baptist as well. Pastor Wicks has provided a way for our children to not only learn about Jesus Christ, but also get a top-notch education in an environment that we feel comfortable letting our children grow up in. Being a parent is tough enough. Now we don’t have to worry about worldly or negative influences that could harm our gifts from God. We would highly recommend the school, the Church, and all of the people.

In closing, I would just like to say thanks to God for leading us to such a wonderful, Bible believing Church that we have in First Baptist Church in Plattsmouth. Like the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the doors of First Baptist Church are always open and ready to welcome people.

Love In Christ,

"When I retired from the Navy, I was contacted for a defense contractor job in Omaha, NE.  The first thing I did was ask to receive a copy of the yellow pages for Independent Baptist Churches.  It was important for me to be sure there were good churches in the area before I took the job.  I found that for my family's needs, about 5 churches in the Omaha-Bellevue-Plattsmouth area were acceptable places to serve.  Acceptable to me means right doctrine and whole hearted service to the Lord - not just showing up and going through the motions."

" After praying about it, I took the job at U.S. Strategic Command on Offutt AFB.  When my family arrived, we visited 3 of the churches.  Without question, First Baptist Church - Plattsmouth stood far above the rest!  My daughter (18) enjoyed the College and Career Sunday School Class.  My wife was impressed with the friendliness of the women and I was pleased to see such a large group of men serving the Lord.  We joined the church on July 4, 1999.  Since then, we have grown in the Lord. Pastor Wicks has practical helpful sermons designed to get you right with God and keep you right.  The encouragement we get from our brothers and sisters in Christ is a blessing.."

"My name is Tracie Dickerson. I came to First Baptist Church in March of 1991, with my family. I am now twenty-six years old. I met my husband, Clay, at First Baptist the same year. We were married in March of 1996, and now have two children: Caleb is three and Aubrey is one."

"First Baptist Church means many things to me. First it is a very caring church. I know that Pastor Wicks truly cares for my family and that he will be there for us no matter what. We are truly blessed to have a pastor that is sincere in his service to God. Not only does our pastor care, the rest of the people in the church do also. We are like family."

"The preaching at First Baptist Church is first-class. It is straight from the King James Bible. It is very practical and helpful. It can be applied in everyday living, such as in our marriages, in child rearing, in our walk with God, etc."

"To sum it all up, First Baptist is a place where I can serve God with my family and friends. All these reasons and many more are why I love my church!"
