My name is Matt Quin. I am a Systems Administrator for a company in Omaha. My wife Tracy and I have three children, Mickayla, Brooklynn, and Chase. We have attended First Baptist Church since Easter Sunday 2001. We were invited to the Easter service by a dear lady, Lori Barton, who was babysitting our kids at the time. Our family was not attending church, and had only attended an occasional Christmas service. We decided to give FBC a try and immediately felt this was the place that God wanted us to be. Tracy, Mickayla, and I received Christ as our Savior that day. We were baptized and joined the church a few weeks later. The friendliness of the people and the way in which Pastor preached with power and sureness really got our attention and gave us a desire to learn more about Christ. Since then, we have been a part of several ministries. Our children are enrolled at First Baptist School, which has been a huge blessing. As a family, we are blessed to be on a bus route that brings people to church. We are active choir members, a teen choir member, kids sing praise club members, soul winners. There are too many things to list about what we like at FBC, but a few that stand out are the preaching, the fellowship and feeling of family, and the soul winning program. Being able to share the Gospel with others and seeing them accept Christ is beyond words. As members of this church, it gives us opportunities to serve the Lord in so many ways, and to do something bigger than any of us. This is why we stay. We love FBC!
My name is Julie and my husband’s name is Bob. We have two children, Stephen and Tommy, ages 17 and 14. I started working as a secretary in the Glenwood, Iowa schools in 1998. My husband is a computer technician for Geeks in Omaha, Nebraska. We started attending First Baptist Church in Plattsmouth in 1998 due to my father’s invitation. We have been attending faithfully ever since.
There were several reasons why we chose to attend First Baptist. It was very important to our family to find a church close to us that was an independent, King James, Bible-believing Baptist church. We found exactly that at First Baptist. Since we had two young boys, it was also important that the church have lots of activities to keep us busy. Boy, are we ever busy!!! We have been involved in so many different things at the church. Currently, I play the organ in the Sunday morning service, help in the nursery, and sing special music in several ensembles. My husband coaches the boys’ junior varsity basketball team, helps direct traffic on Sunday mornings, and helps with any computer and printer problems the church may have. My sons play on the church’s varsity and JV basketball teams as well as sing in the teen choir and other teen ensembles.
We absolutely love First Baptist Church, our pastor, assistant pastors, and all the friends we have made there. God has blessed our family so much. We pray that we can be a blessing to others as well through the many ministries at First Baptist Church.
My name is Scott. I'm currently active duty in the US Air Force and stationed at Offut AFB. My wife, Stephanie, is a stay-at-home mom raising our two children, Allsion (2 years old) and John (1 year old) with our third on the way.
We've been members of FC for three years now and have really enjoyed the church! We found the church in the phone book and visited simply because it had the same name as our previous church in North Dakota. After hearing Pastor Wicks preach that first Sunday we decided FBC would be a great place to worship and raise our family. There are so many ministries to be involved with and so much more than just the preaching on Sundays and Wednesdays. That alone is worth coming for though!
I've been able to be involved in the building program through prayer, financial support and a little hard labor. And the men's ministry has been a blessing to be a part of. Stephanie is busy in the music program at both the church and First Baptist School in the school band, church orchestra and singing in small vocal groups. She also teaches the girls' senior high sewing class once a week at FBS. We love First Baptist Church because of the friends we've made, the preaching straight from the KJV Bible and a warm and welcoming spirit. It has truly become our family away from home.
